For the ELEVENTH year in a row, The Costume Designers Guild will be participating in San Diego Comic-Con, July 21-24 at the San Diego Convention Center. The CDG (I.A.T.S.E. Local 892) is the labor union that represents costume designers, assistant costume designers and illustrators in film and television. They will return this year with two exciting panels; giving fans a behind the scenes look at the fantastic world of costume design for some of the hottest films and television shows!

Ice Age to Space Age Costumes: Designing for Film 

The Costume Designers Guild Local 892 members discuss designing costumes for films from Solutrean to Star Trek: Beyond our panelists worked with the directors to create the world of the films. Panelists include Ruth E. Carter (Chi-Raq), Sanja Hays (Star Trek: Beyond), and Shawna Trpcic (The Cabin in the Woods). The panelists are happy to answer audience questions about the process of filming today and how they work with the Directors to create the looks. Christopher Lawrence (The Space Between Us) joins us to moderate this panel.

Dressing the Characters: The designers behind the costumes

The Costume Designers Guild Local 892 is thrilled to bring the designers of some of our favorite television characters to Comic Con. Terry Dresbach (Outlander), Ann Foley (Agents of Shield), Giovanna Melton (Agent Carter), Kiersten Ronning (Supergirl) and Luis Sequeira (Strain) will discuss the process of designing costumes for television characters no matter what world the characters live in. The panel will be moderated by Joe Kucharski Editor of TyrannyOfStyle.com.

Madsen (costume manufacturing foreperson, Captain America Civil War, Hunger Games: Mockingjay), Mary Ellen Fields (owner, Bill Hargate Costumes; Batman v Superman, Man of Steel), Dorothy Bulac-Eriksen (specialty costumer,Guardians of the Galaxy Vo.l 2, Fantastic Four), Doug Stewart (textile artist-ager/dyer, X-men Apocalypse, 10 Cloverfield Lane), Maureen O'Heron (costume buyer, Interstellar, Ender's Game), and other treasured talents discuss and answer questions about your favorite superheroes' costume trials and tribulations.

Panel members will also be on hand throughout the convention to participate in exciting costume events. You will find them roaming the halls, around their panel schedule Friday and Saturday, handing out prizes for their favorite costumes.
